My rule is simple.The name on the estimate is the name at your door.

Painting is not like other trades. My crew is not out at the curb. They are in your living room, your kitchen, your stairwell, around your family and your things. I believe that if a crew is coming into your house, you should be able to greet them by name.

With Cornerstone, you can. Nobody knocks ahead of the crew. I write the estimate myself and work the job myself, and that is still the whole arrangement.

Tell me what you're working with. A house exterior, an interior after a remodel, a commercial building. You're talking to the owner from the first minute, and I'll set up a time to come look.

I come out and look at it myself

I walk the job, check what the surfaces need, and give you a clear number. You talk to me, not a desk. The man pricing the work is the man responsible for it.

Prep work done right

The finish is only as good as what's under it. Powerwash, defect and rot check, carpentry repairs where needed, prime and caulk, all before the brush or roller ever touches the wall.

I check it before it's called done

I've been doing it myself since day one. Navy discipline means done is actually done. My crew packs up, cleans up, and leaves your home the way they found it.

Who's actually coming into my house?

Me and my crew. I'm Scott Cohoon, a retired U.S. Navy veteran, and I own Cornerstone. You meet me at the estimate, and I'm the same person who looks the work over before it's called done.

Who answers when I call?

The owner. There's no call center and nobody standing between us. The person you deal with, start to finish, is me.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Free, no fee either way, and the number comes from me.

What kinds of painting do you do?

Exteriors, from single-story homes to three-level hillside houses with cedar siding. Interiors, including 25 to 30-foot ceilings, stairwells, and repaints after a remodel. Industrial work like structural steel and water towers, with sandblasting prep. And commercial buildings across the Sioux Falls area.

How long does a paint job take?

Most small jobs take two or three days. Paint needs real dry time between coats, and rushing it is how a finish fails early. I'd rather do it right than do it fast.

Can you help me pick a color, or match one I already have?

Yes to both. I help with color selection whenever you want it, and if you're painting into finished work, my crew can match your existing color.

What areas do you serve?

Sioux Falls and everything within about a 60-mile radius, including Brandon, Harrisburg, Tea, Lennox, and Crooks.
